Helping Canada Understand the Importance of Alberta's Energy Industry

I wanted to share with you some of the work I have been doing over the summer. I strongly believe that one of the reasons why pipeline approvals keep getting delayed and bills such as C-69 move forward are because the Liberal government’s support base in central Canada doesn’t understand the importance of our energy industry to the wellbeing of all of Canada.

To begin filling that communications gap I have been working with industry leaders and fellow colleagues in central Canada to spread the message. The first concrete results are occurring this week as industry leaders are in Toronto for a major investment seminar. While travelling east, arrangements have been made to have CEO’s spend time with various community groups in and around Toronto.

One such event took place on Monday in Oshawa, organized by two of my colleagues, Erin O’Toole and Colin Carrie. An editorial page column penned by MP O’Toole appeared in the Toronto Sun and the link is below. As we move into the fall and winter the objective is to have many more of these working sessions with service clubs, business associations and media to get the energy industry message to those who always hear the negatives of oil and gas production.

I would appreciate any comments you might have and ask that if you believe this initiative is important, please forward on this Toronto Sun column to anyone you know elsewhere in Canada.
